How To Use A Replicator Ic2

Experimental-Only Content: This information has been updated to the V2.X version of IC².
The most recent version of IC² is V2.8.221.

This is a tutorial on replicating items. There are a lot of items that can be replicated out of EU. Before starting make sure you have:

  • an MFSU,
  • a ton of resources, and
  • vast amounts of EU.

Replication is a very expensive luxus and you won't be able to start if you don't fulfill the pre-conditions.

UU-Liquid

The first thing you'll need is called UU-Liquid, or Universal-Usage-Liquid. To make this you need a matter fabricator:

This machine will accept 512 EUp (high voltage) and create UU-Liquid very slowly. It is strongly recommended to feed it with Scrap, otherwise it will consume 10 times as much energy! Creating one bucket of Uu-Liquid requires roughly 22 million EU if you supply more than 500 stacks of scrap. Don't worry, most items only require tiny amounts of UU-Liquid. For example dirt requires 0.00016 buckets and diamond 0.035 buckets of UU-Liquid per item.

Scanning

Now that you have your UU-Liquid, you will need a Scanner:

Before scanning an item, you need a way to store the information the scanner will output. This information is also called 'Pattern'. To do so you need some Memory Crystals and a Pattern Storage.

Either place the Pattern Storage directly adjacent to the scanner or put a Memory Crystal inside the scanner. Now, put any item you want to replicate in the scanner and power it with 512EUp. The scanner will analyze the item and give information on how much UU-Liquid and EU you'll need to create the item. Note that not all items can be scanned. Scanning one item will consume roughly 850000 EU.

Replicating

Replication requires four things:

  • UU-Liquid,
  • a pattern,
  • some EU, and
  • a Grid Replicator.png  Replicator.

In the meantime, you should have the first three things. The fourth is crafted like this:

The Replicator accepts up to 2048 EUp (extreme voltage). To get the pattern into the replicator, you need a Pattern Storage (with the stored information) adjacent to it. The UU-Liquid can be supplied either by using Universal Fluid Cells or BuildCraft pipes. That's it! Simply press the green arrow and the replication starts. This will consume some EU and, when finished, you'll get your desired item.
